He performs routine GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to treat Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, and other GI symptoms. As a native Texan, he is grateful to be home in Texas to have the opportunity to care for people in his community. He is a gifted teacher, and he sees his interactions with patients as opportunities to teach them about their GI conditions so they are better equipped to handle them.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

The most important thing in my medical career is relationships. I enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families, and gastroenterology offers a lot of opportunities for that. Additionally, I enjoy doing procedures because it gives me a chance to offer more significant benefits to my patients. When I was completing my internal medicine residency training, I had a lot of options to consider for my future career. Ultimately, I felt God calling me to a career in gastroenterology, and it has been incredibly rewarding.

Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?

My favorite aspect of gastroenterology is the liver. The liver is incredibly complex and can be very challenging to treat. Though the liver is my primary interest, pretty much everything else in GI is a close second. I enjoy treating inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and many other chronic GI conditions.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

After spending 15 years in the U.S. Navy, my family and I are grateful to be back home in Texas. We enjoy just being in the company of family and friends. Our primary activities tend to center around our church family. We enjoy attending church events, serving our community, and spending time in fellowship with good friends. You can also find us commonly in a swimming pool or around any water activity.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

Spanish

Fantastic. This man stopped his world and paid attention to me and taught me so much about a scary situation. THEN—. I told him I was moving to San Diego and he called a colleague and told me this was the doctor i should follow up with. His ofc was amazing. When I got on the phone to schedule a new appt I started to make a list of all of the medical records and info I would need to gather. “No ma’am. We have everything. You don’t need to send a thing. Dr Lacey’s ofc handled it all”. Uummm. What? Just amazing.

The staff was both friendly and professional during my entire experience,a colonoscopy. They patiently answered my questions and concerns. Discussed the results of the procedure before I left. Sent printed details, and related information , home with me. I couldn't be happier about the experience .

Great start, no delay Dr. Lacey appeared 5 minutes early. Very easy to communicate with putting you at ease and relaxed immediately. Took the time to explain the pro/con of your options, including the risks. Very pleased with the results, picked my option and scheduled an appointment.
