Randy Christian, an LDDA Patient, Beats Third Round of Cancer

“District 5 Councilman Randy Christian  says, after months, he is feeling better. Scans show no visible signs of cancer, after his third run with the disease.

Christian has faced colon, anal, and stomach cancer throughout his life. This is mostly due to Lynch Syndrome , an inherited genetic disorder that causes mutations in genes that normally protect you from certain cancers. He calls it a family curse. The councilman had his first battle with colon cancer when he was 30 years old.

Not only does Randy attribute his victories over cancer to his family being open about health, but to his medical community right here in Lubbock.

“Our relationship is unique because we’ve had some pretty low lows and some pretty high highs as far as his recovery and great scans and good reports,” Gastroenterologist Tim Miller said. “I always enjoy seeing Randy and hopefully we’ll have more of the good reports to come.”

Miller, doctor at Covenant Health, says Randy is unique head-to-toe.

“When you think of all these cancers, it is unusual to beat them. But he’s such a good example of early detection and the promise of cures when cancer is caught early,” Miller said.
