About Kevin Dasher, M.D.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

In my final year of medical school, I did an elective GI rotation with a GI physician in West Houston. This was one of my most enjoyable months during medical school, in part due to the subject matter but also the way this doctor treated me and his patients. My positive perception of GI physicians continued in residency when I found the GI physicians to be an approachable, practical and fun group of people. These are the reasons I opted to pursue a career in GI medicine.

Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?

My special interests include management of all facets of gastroenterology with additional expertise in liver disease and therapeutic endoscopy (EUS, ERCP). I previously worked as a transplant hepatologist in Houston before redirecting my career to focus on hepatobiliary disease. I have additional post fellowship specialty training in both of these fields.

Where did you study?

Undergraduate: Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT
Medical School: University of Texas-Houston
Residency: University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Madison, WI

Board Certified: Gastroenterology, Transplant Hepatology

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

Reviews

Dr Dasher doesn't rush me like all the other GI doctors in this town. I have been living in this city for over a decade and Dr Dasher is the first GI doctor who actually listens to me. If he doesn't have the answers he's up front and honest about it. That is something I value and appreciate, I don't expect my doctors to have all the answers but I do expect them to be upfront and honest. My biggest problem is being able to reach the office for an appointment. Sometimes it takes me a couple of days to get through. That's the problem with all of San Antonio TOO MANY PEOPLE. None of this is Dr Dashers fault it's the cities fault

This is a very good practice. I’m always greeted and treated with respect and kindness by Dr Dasher and the staff. My only concern is the length of lead time needed to make an appointment. Six weeks to two months. I guess that’s because they’re so good at what they do.

Everyone was nice and attentive I didn’t have to wait long.

Smooth experience, smooth! My first colonscopy, I was very anxious. They took really good care of me, I was home in less than 3 hours!!!
