About Andrew Holt, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I chose Gastroenterology as I think it is a good blend of the art and science of medicine. I enjoy the challenges we face daily and the variety of illnesses we are able to diagnose and treat. I like that we are often able to improve a patient’s condition and the relationships that I build with my patients as we try to solve and treat their problems.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
I don’t have a specific specialty within GI, but I enjoy the variety of conditions that we are able to diagnose and treat.
Where did you study?
Undergrad: Baylor University, Medical School: University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Residency: Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine, GI Fellowship: University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.
What certifications do you hold?
Board Certified in Gastroenterology.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
My family and I enjoy traveling and often head to the outdoors visiting State and National Parks. We enjoy seeing our extended family much of whom live in Texas. I am a huge music fan with a large music collection. I like to run and exercise. I enjoy photography, especially when we go hiking. I read books on history, church history, the Bible and commentaries on the Bible. My family and I regularly attend church and participate in church activities.
Do you have any special honors or recognitions in your medical career that you would like to share?
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University. At UT Southwestern Medical School I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I co-authored a chapter in the Washington University Manual subspecialty series. In 2013 I was named Best Bedside Manner at Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound.

Great experience for a colonoscopy 🤭Dr Holt and staff were very professional and made the unpleasant a great experience!
Staff and procedure were excellent. Outsource company was very poor in handling pre procedure paperwork. Poor communication and any IT paperwork was difficult to figure out and submit
Great place. Very professional and caring. Dr Holt was very informative and easy to talk to.
Wonderful staff. Made an unpleasant procedure endurable.
