Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
The most important thing in my medical career is relationships. I enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families, and gastroenterology offers a lot of opportunities for that. Additionally, I enjoy doing procedures because it gives me a chance to offer more significant benefits to my patients. When I was completing my internal medicine residency training, I had a lot of options to consider for my future career. Ultimately, I felt God calling me to a career in gastroenterology, and it has been incredibly rewarding.
Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?
My favorite aspect of gastroenterology is the liver. The liver is incredibly complex and can be very challenging to treat. Though the liver is my primary interest, pretty much everything else in GI is a close second. I enjoy treating inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and many other chronic GI conditions.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
After spending 15 years in the U.S. Navy, my family and I are grateful to be back home in Texas. We enjoy just being in the company of family and friends. Our primary activities tend to center around our church family. We enjoy attending church events, serving our community, and spending time in fellowship with good friends. You can also find us commonly in a swimming pool or around any water activity.

From the moment I got to the clinic or to the G.I. office I felt very at ease. The Staff was very accommodating. My experience was really positive. In a procedure like a colonoscopy And an endoscopy I had a different vision of what I was going to experience. It sounds maybe a little weird, but it was great. Staff was outstanding. Dr. Lacey is great. He knows what he is doing. The anesthesiologist outstanding. He made me feel like we known each other for years, so it’s not a comfortable situation or a recommendation but if you have to do it, please do it at this place. God bless

Dr. Lacey is great! Genuinely cares and makes sure you feel comfortable leaving with full understanding of all the information you receive. His fellow staff is a great compliment to him and the whole office. Dr. Bachman at the Baylor Scott hospital is part of their group and she too is great!

Dr. Brent Lacy is great. Easy to talk to , he actually listens and then fixes whatever is ailing you . I can’t say enough good things about this guy! He’s normal. Like your best friend. You’re not uncomfortable talking about anything. I give this guy 10 stars!
The people at Lone Star Endoscopy were wonderful. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Dr Lacy is the best. He’s a wonderful Dr and very concerning…..a rare jewel.
I highly recommend Dr Lacey. He is a great listener and truly empathetic. His background of study and research make me feel like I came to the right place. He speaks plainly without the clinical jargon and patiently addresses all my questions. I never feel rushed.

Brent is the second generation gastroenterologist from his family that I've seen as my physician. There's no one else that I would see for my colonoscopies or anything related to gastro issues. He is a consummate professional, he has great bedside manner, takes the time to get to know you and discuss any questions you have.
