About Brent W. Lacey, M.D.
Dr. Brent Lacey is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Texas Digestive Disease Consultants in Southlake, TX. He performs routine GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to treat Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, and other GI symptoms. After college, he felt God calling him to a career in the military, and he served for 15 years in the U.S. Navy. As a native Texan, he is grateful to be home in Texas to have the opportunity to care for people in his community. He is a gifted teacher, and he sees his interactions with patients as opportunities to teach them about their GI conditions so they are better equipped to handle them.
Undergraduate: Texas A&M University

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
The most important thing in my medical career is relationships. I enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families, and gastroenterology offers a lot of opportunities for that. Additionally, I enjoy doing procedures because it gives me a chance to offer more significant benefits to my patients. When I was completing my internal medicine residency training, I had a lot of options to consider for my future career. Ultimately, I felt God calling me to a career in gastroenterology, and it has been incredibly rewarding.
Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?
My favorite aspect of gastroenterology is the liver. The liver is incredibly complex and can be very challenging to treat. Though the liver is my primary interest, pretty much everything else in GI is a close second. I enjoy treating inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and many other chronic GI conditions.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
After spending 15 years in the U.S. Navy, my family and I are grateful to be back home in Texas. We enjoy just being in the company of family and friends. Our primary activities tend to center around our church family. We enjoy attending church events, serving our community, and spending time in fellowship with good friends. You can also find us commonly in a swimming pool or around any water activity.
Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

First impression and visit was amazing. Dr. Brent Lacey took lots of time discussing my medical issue with IBS and colitis. I appreciated his professional and made me feel comfortable with asking questions. Thank you!
Dr. Lacey took time to listen to me and collaborated with me when making a care plan. Front office staff was friendly and welcoming.
Best Gastro folks in North Texas.
Excellent yearly appointment with Dr. Lacey! Dr. Brent Lacey is warm, helpful, sharp, knowledgeable and as personable as his dad (my previous gastroenterologist for 24 years - he retired last year), I felt confident in young Dr. Lacey’s care and the review of my current meds with discussion on potential changes when we move to Medicare next year was quite helpful. Did bloodwork with the excellent phlebotomist on staff and out in record time to get on with my day. With 2024 moving me into 25 years of incredible care with TDDC, I look forward to additional years with this stellar family and medical group. Absolutely recommend for gastroenterology needs - there is no one to compare with TDDC!
I had a colonostomy done by Dr. Lacy. Everything went perfect. The staff was very professional and friendly.
