He performs routine GI procedures such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to treat Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis, liver diseases, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, and other GI symptoms. As a native Texan, he is grateful to be home in Texas to have the opportunity to care for people in his community. He is a gifted teacher, and he sees his interactions with patients as opportunities to teach them about their GI conditions so they are better equipped to handle them.

Education

Undergraduate: Texas A&M University

Medical School: University of Texas School of Medicine – San Antonio

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?

The most important thing in my medical career is relationships. I enjoy establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families, and gastroenterology offers a lot of opportunities for that. Additionally, I enjoy doing procedures because it gives me a chance to offer more significant benefits to my patients. When I was completing my internal medicine residency training, I had a lot of options to consider for my future career. Ultimately, I felt God calling me to a career in gastroenterology, and it has been incredibly rewarding.

Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?

My favorite aspect of gastroenterology is the liver. The liver is incredibly complex and can be very challenging to treat. Though the liver is my primary interest, pretty much everything else in GI is a close second. I enjoy treating inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis), eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, and many other chronic GI conditions.

What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?

After spending 15 years in the U.S. Navy, my family and I are grateful to be back home in Texas. We enjoy just being in the company of family and friends. Our primary activities tend to center around our church family. We enjoy attending church events, serving our community, and spending time in fellowship with good friends. You can also find us commonly in a swimming pool or around any water activity.

Do you fluently speak any other languages in addition to English?

Spanish

The staff and Dr Lacey were, of course, professional and friendly. Kindness truly makes all the difference when you’re not help and trying to determine what’s going on. The doctor indicated that he could need to calm in a prescription for be and my the time that I drove home, the pharmacy had sent a text to let me know it was ready for pick up. Because I have had other doctors say they would call in the prescription only find that many days later me and the pharmacy were still calling that doctor's office for status with no success … So I was thrilled that Dr. Lacey’s office did just as they said they would. I am sure that I will continue seeing this doctor and encourage others to do the same!

From Doctor Lacy to the entire post op, procedure team, to recovery nurse. A terrific, professional, kind, and caring group of people. They treat you like family. Prep is not fun, but necessary for a good examination. Other than that, as great experience as you can experience with a Colonoscopy. See you all in. 12 months.
