About Caroline Walker, M.D.
Dr. Walker is a board-certified gastroenterologist with TDDC in Denton. She performs routine and emergent GI procedures such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and enteroscopy in the diagnosis, screening, and surveillance of gastrointestinal diseases and cancers. She treats a broad variety of general GI/hepatic disorders, including IBD, fatty liver, dysphagia, GERD, HCV/HBV, constipation, and diarrhea. Special interests include treating pregnant women with GI (e.g. IBD) or liver issues. During her training, her research interests included disparities in IBD in men vs women. Other research she enjoyed examined post-transplant data to help examine which cardiac risk factors (if any) might be able to serve as a red flag for poor survival after liver transplant (<6 months). She is a member of the ACG, ASCGE, AASLD, and AGA.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I was attracted to gastroenterology because of the diversity of the field. It allows me to treat both the acutely ill patient in the hospital setting, as well as develop a relationship with a patient over several years in the outpatient setting. It permits me to use the diagnostic skills of an internal medicine doctor in addition to performing procedures.
Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?
I enjoy treating a wide variety of general GI conditions including liver disease.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have always been an avid reader, enjoying both fiction and non-fiction. Walks in our local parks serve to re-energize me and give me new gardening ideas. The thing, I enjoy most, however, is spending time with my extended family who live in the area. While sports are not my passion, I look forward to front row seats at all of my niece’s and nephews’ games.

Reviews
I felt very comfortable and the Dr was great! Will recommend to my friends and family if they need a GI dr!
I love Dr. Walker. She never rushes me during our visits. She is very knowledgeable and is willing to brainstorm about things to try to make me more comfortable. She is especially empathetic to issues involving the bowel. She is great!
Dr Walker listens and shares great resources. You’re in good care w her!
Dr walker performed two procedures for me, her instructions for the fasting on day one and two were very easy to understand. Her bedside manor was spot on, the jokes were funny. I think she is phenomenal, I was afraid, but her manor put me at ease.
Dr Walker was great and everyone at the surgery center was the best. I would definitely recommend everyone again. Thank you for taking good care of me. Sincerely, Marie
