Dr. Menalee Hapuarachchi is a board certified gastroenterologist who treats all digestive disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), GERD, Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis and colorectal cancer prevention and screening.
Dr. Hapuarachchi received her undergraduate degree from William Paterson University of New Jersey and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She completed her residency and fellowship at Medical City Fort Worth and John Peter Smith (JPS) In Fort Worth.

Despite being in the medical field, I’ve always been an “ignorance is bliss”, “I don’t want to know” kind of person who dreads going to the doctor. When I was told I had to be referred to a GI doctor, I was filled with anxiety. But, as soon as I met and interacted with Dr. Hapuarachchi, I felt so comfortable and at ease. She spoke to me like a person, not just another patient she needed to check off her list. She is extremely personable and comforting, while still providing incredible care. As someone who works in the medical field, a doctor like this can be hard to find, so I’m very glad to have been referred to Dr. Hapuarachchi and won’t be changing GI Doctors any time soon!
