About Nishita Kara, M.D.
Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
Since the beginning of my clinical training, gastrointestinal disorders have always fascinated me. Every disease and patient presentation is unique and requires a dynamic management approach. I truly enjoy getting to know my patients and creating a comprehensive yet focused treatment plan.
Do you have a specialty of interest within GI?
While I enjoy all aspects of gastroenterology, my special interests include gastrointestinal motility disorders, specifically esophageal and anorectal disorders. This consists of conditions such as refractory heartburn and constipation, post-esophageal surgery syndromes, pelvic floor dysfunction and fecal incontinence.
Where did you study?
I completed my undergraduate studies at Drexel University. I then completed Medical School at Ross University School of Medicine. Thereafter, I returned to Drexel University College of Medicine to complete my internship, residency and fellowship training. During my fellowship, I completed additional training in motility disorders.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, cooking, strength training and most of all spending time with my husband and son.

I am a published author in a number of journals and have presented research at several professional society meetings both locally and nationally.

Reviews
Wonderful group of people work at this facility. Every person deserves a 5 star rating!
Pleasant interaction and good post procedure info.
Dr. Kara is attentive and very knowledgable. I know I am in good hands with her.
My experience with Dr Kara and all the medical staff at Lone Star Endoscopy was excellent . They were very knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating from start to finish on the day of my colonoscopy. Each person I spoke with was kind , professional and explained what to expect very clearly . No rush . Dr Kara was very clear to advise me how the procedure went and what to expect from their follow up phone call . 5 stars rating from me , i highly recommend Dr K and the LSE Staff for your colon health care .
Great care and concern by all that had me in their care. Thanks to Dr. Kara, Jason, the anesthesiologist, and the nurses that cared for me, before and after. The check-in staff were very pleasant as well. My overall experience was excellent.
